Dennis Dinosaur does what he does best
I decided to change up the content on this post and go for something a little more light-hearted. So, I brought back good ol' Dennis. This acrylic on masonite and somewhat crude and unfinished. I'll just let the picture do the talking, 'cause this is a fun one.

The Lion's Den, and Praying in the Garden
Hello all. I hope everyone is doing well. Today's post is Bible related again. These two drawings are quick studies I did at work.

I originally wanted more lions in this next piece, but some compositional problems sort of got in the way of making that happen. Oh well, that will teach me to plan better I guess. A friend of mine told me that Daniel looked too old, but I wanted him to appear wise and experienced. Still, I think the picture has a nice feel to it.
The last piece is supposed to be Jesus praying in the garden, but I stopped drawing it because it didn't get approved at work. The detail was too obscure. Personally, I am against depicting specific images of Jesus, so this concept had to end.
I like his crossed arms because it suggests a struggle. However, If I had to do i over, I'd show more of that struggle in his face.

Jacob vs the Angel and Jonah Encounters the Fish

Today's entries are again Biblically related, yet very different. The first, is another oil pastel drawing. It depicts Jonah flailing in a swirling ocean as a fantastic fish opens its mouth ready to swallow him. I used color expressively and tried to arrange the composition in a dynamic way using a series of sweeping diagonal shapes and lines.

The next piece was drawn with charcoal and ink, washed with matte medium. I wanted to show Jacob struggling with the angel for his blessing. An "x" composition is used to zigzag the eye across the page.
Well, that about does it for today. Thanks for looking.

David, Goliath, and My Muse
David and Goliath.
I wanted to depict the moment after David cut off Goliath's head, and in his relief, he gives thanks to God. I used color expressively here in a painterly way. The drawing is done with oil pastels.
On a differing note, I just wanted to say how happy I am that God has brought such a wonderful person in my life. Nicole is a breath of fresh air and just being around her inspires me to make art. She possesses such faith, beauty, depth, and intelligence, and has an incredibly fun and childlike outlook on life. She and I are so much alike and, being a dancer and artist herself, she truly gets me. That's why I have to call her my muse. Making art is effortless with her around. Here's some pics.
The first is the two of us at a beach in North Carolina. I love the way the setting sun is glowing in this picture.

Next up is a picture of us at Mimis, a restaurant in Orlando where we were celebrating a going away party for my former boss, Iris.

So, there you have it. I hope to post more here soon, but there's lots of stuff happening right now.
